Heed the Market (HTM) is designed to complement lectures on discrimination, hiring, or the role of markets in decision making. Specifically, it details what can happen when we rely too heavily on the market to make hiring and salary decisions.
The learner plays the role of Hiring Manager and is responsible for submitting salary offers to candidates who passed all interview stages. Learners set an initial salary based on internal data, and are then presented with information regarding each candidate's competing offers which they can use to adjust the salary offer before submitting it to the candidate.
Candidates then decide to accept or decline the offer based on the salary, and learners are provided feedback regarding their two core metrics: candidate yield and average candidate salary.
